FREQUENT QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: Is paintball legal in Victoria?

A: Yes. Provided you are not a prohibited person and are over 18 years of age anyone can play paintball in Victoria.

Q: Do I need a shooters license to play paintball in Victoria?

A: No. This was true in the past but now anyone can play paintball in Victoria.

Q: Is paintball safe?

A: Yes. Paintball has the lowest injury to participant ratio of any sport in which statistics are taken. Paintball in Victoria (and everywhere else) is statistically a lot safer than ten pin bowling, golf and table tennis

Q: Does is hurt when hit by a paintball?

A: The best way we can describe the feeling of being hit by a paintball is ‘ouch’. It gives you a sting similar to being stung by an elastic band but once you have the first one under the belt and the adrenalin is pumping there is no greater thrill. Don’t stress about the pain it isn’t too bad.

Q: What is the legal age limit for paintball in Victoria?

A: 18. Other states have lower age limits but ALL of Victoria has a legal age limit of 18+ to play paintball games. If any field in Victoria allows you to play paintball games and you are under 18 they are putting you and themselves at risk. You (and the operator) won’t be covered by insurance and you (and the operator) will be in breech of the Firearms Act and could be charged by Victoria Police. The industry is working to lower the age limit so be sure to check in to our site for updates.

Q: Will I get bruises?

A: If your group is refereed correctly it is illegal to get shot within 8 meters so any tag you receive should leave a small red mark on the skin. If you have heard any horror stories or seen any gnarly pictures of paintball bruises then it is likely they were received breaking the paintball code of conduct (ie shooting each other too close). This doesn’t happen at our field. Ladies receive free half armour (so only your arms and legs are exposed) or full body armour for a small fee (so everything is protected). We recommend only half armour at most though as half the exhilaration of playing is tagging people and getting tagged yourself.

STRATEGY AND TACTICS

BASIC TACTICS

In almost every mission during your paintball session, communication is the key to victory. We frequently see teams which are outnumbered come out on top because theiy had strong communication flowing between their team members.

Simply calling out the locations of enemy players can make a massive difference in a game of paintball.

Covering fire is one of the oldest combat tactics known to man! If one person is trying to move forward, co-ordinate with another person to fire on enemy positions while they move. This keeps enemy players from being able to shoot, and allows your team to leapfrog up the field.

This strategy can work just as well with groups of players covering each other, and allows for teams to co-ordinate their advance across the field!

BODY ARMOUR

Body armour comes in 2 different varieties... Half armour, and full armour.

Half body armour covers your entire torso, front and back, and the entire neck area. The majority of paintball tags will occur in this area, which makes half armour a great option. It does not restrict movement, and you won't get too hot when you wear it.

Half body armour is supplied FREE OF CHARGE to all female players.

Full body armour is designed for those who are a little more nervous about playing paintball.

Players put on a full body jumpsuit, which is reinforced with padded plating from head to toe, making it almost impervious to paintballs.

Full body armour costs $10 to hire for the session.
